Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is partnership (defined as an alliance, not a legal business partnership) between the coach and the client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize her/his/their personal and professional potential. It is designed to facilitate the creation/development of personal, professional or business goals and to develop and carry out a strategy/plan for achieving those goals.

Is coaching a therapy?

No, coaching is not a form of therapy or counselling.

Coaching is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. It is not a substitute for professional mental health services, including psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, or substance abuse treatment. Life coaching focuses on helping individuals achieve their goals, overcome obstacles, and improve their present and future, rather than analyzing past events or treating mental health disorders.

If you are currently receiving care from a mental health professional, it is important to inform them about your coaching relationship. Should they choose to, your mental health provider may collaborate with the coach, but they must provide written consent for this collaboration. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that any coaching relationship complements their mental health care, and that they seek additional professional support as needed.

What are the conditions for an online session?

The following aspects are crucial for you to prepare yourself for each online session.

  1. Take a positive attitude towards yourself, because you are investing time, effort and money on your self-improvement programme. Be open to new perspectives and accept that your mind needs time to process the activities you perform during the session.
  2. Book your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
  3. Be on time. If you cannot attend a session, reschedule it within 24 hours before the appointment.
  4. Check the performance of your Internet connection and the functioning of your communication device, e.g. smartphone or laptop, before the session. An Internet connection or a device with poor performance is an obstacle to our work.
  5. Since the sessions are video calls, make sure that your device has a functioning camera. Also, check how you prefer to listen: with or without headphones.
  6. Reserve the necessary time for the session, including minutes before it starts and after it ends. For example, if a session lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, reserve an extra 20 minutes (10 minutes before the start and the same amount of time after the end).
  7. Put yourself in a place where you feel comfortable and will not be disturbed by anyone. Please inform the people living with you that you will be busy for that time and cannot be interrupted. Otherwise this will be a big obstacle to the work we want to do.
  8. Deactivate vibrations and acoustic notifications from your device.
  9. Bring water to drink in case you get thirsty during the session.
  10. Bring blank sheets of paper and pens, because you will probably have to write and draw during the session. If you like to use colours, bring markers.

Are the sessions recorded?

No. The sessions are not and cannot be recorded, neither by the client nor by me.
